wwyd? my stepson is 15, pretty awkward and dorky. while i was on facebook, i was checking for other relatives and found that my ss's classmates put together something ridiculing him on the site. it's not awful, but it's really not nice. also the kids make fun of my ds (who is 2)...who they don't even know! (that really pushed my buttons!) should i say anything? do anything? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'd be calling parents. Bullying is not okay, and this is a form of bullying. [ Reply | More ]

op: the kids are not bullying him. ss doesn't even know this exists. the other kids are just listing quotes that ss says in class and then they laugh about it. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, but if ss does find out about it it could devaste him...I def would call parents. If you know and do nothing, you are tacitly condoning...which I doubt you mean to do. It sucks, but I'd try to make some calls. Teenagers are too vulnerable to depression, suicide, etc. I wouldn't risk it. [ Reply | More ]

OR: My point exactly. Why not discuss it with your DH and see what he thinks? [ Reply | More ]

OR: I'm not sure - you're right, it could be awful for him. Maybe you could talk to a guidance counselor instead, who could just say that the school found it? [ Reply | More ]

^^^I'm starting to think that schools need to do periodic patrols of myspace and facebook. Our sitter's classmate posted nude pictures of herself and boyfriend (she was 16). And DH's niece was posting with friends about how she thought she was pg (my SIL found out through a classmate that warned her). [ Reply | More ]

that's more the responsibility of the parents, not really the schools. [ Reply | More ]

I agree the parents have the primary responsibility (like my SIL did). But in cases where the parents aren't doing anything, some really bad shit is going down on these sites. [ Reply | More ]

do you know your ss's teachers? or know if they are any good? i'd touch base with a teacher to get some information or advice. they know the dynamics fairly well. [ Reply | More ]
