And how do the adults around you respond? I really am curious. There is a mom in my dc's class that uses the F word and I'm always shocked by it. [ Reply | More ]

np (can't reply above): Is she saying it in front of the kids? Otherwise, what's the big deal? Plenty of moms I know say F*ck and WTF. [ Reply | More ]

WTF mom here - of course I refrain from using profanity in front of kids, but do use it sparingly, for emphasis, in adult conversation. [ Reply | More ]

If times are tough give what you can - but if you are simply procrastinating that is not an excuse [ Reply | More ]

I was just posting that we missed the date (ours was a handmade-only gift) because DS was out sick - and I just got a bitchy voicemail lecturing me about not showing my gratitude to the teacher. I used to be a class mom, NFW did I ever speak to someone that way. [ Reply | More ]

Giev me a break, I have lots of friends who are teachers and in no way do they ever keep the gifts, imagine how many they would have by the end of ther teaching career. [ Reply | More ]

Of course. But I'm fine with the gesture. But don't give us a drop-dead date and then get pissed because my kid happened to be out with scarlett fever. I'm waiting for my phone call back from her, it should be precious. [ Reply | More ]

I am amazed that someone thinks its ok to be bitchy and "teach someone else about manners". Funniest thing... [ Reply | More ]

No one, and I mean no one tells me that I have to hand make a gift for anyone. Gift giving isn't dictated like that. At least not in my life. [ Reply | More ]

I can imagine the teacher would have preferred $100 gc to Barnes & Noble or something instead. But class mothers can be the worst, there was one on here earlier complaining about people not giving $20 and that "she knows who the poor people are, and they aren't them." [ Reply | More ]

Oh, I know. And I gave her what for as well. I am grateful for the class moms who collect money. Just do it with a little grace. [ Reply | More ]

Hijack - dc's elementary school teacher this year is awful and nobody is collecting for an end of the year class gift. I don't like the teacher either but feel guilty - WWYD? [ Reply | More ]

Even the class mom did nothing? That's harsh. But if she is really that bad, maybe she needs a wakeup call. [ Reply | More ]

sigh, np. We should just do away with all this. When I was in school, they did not give teachers presents. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, students did. My Mom was a teacher when I was growing up and every year, she came home with a load of gifts from the kids. Most was junk, but she appreciated the thought. [ Reply | More ]

right, some children gave a gift they made or bought with their own money to the teacher. Not a bunch of crazed moms harrasing people for money. Totally different. [ Reply | More ]

Yes but the specials teachers are going to get left out too. Ugh. Don't have the time and energy to motivate to fix this - maybe we should just do individual gifts? [ Reply | More ]

wow, what school is this? I can't imaging someone hounding for gift money for the teachers at our school. People totally understand that not everyone is in the same financial position. Those that can give a little extra and those that can't give zero. [ Reply | More ]
