POLL: would you rather have a PT job that pays less but gives you more time with db OR a FT job that requires you to be away from DB for 11 hours a day but pays well? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

with my current situation (DH who makes ok money) I'd def go for PT. If I was a single mom I would have to probably take the second option [ Reply | More ]

np stuff happens ya know? I'm all for planning and staying within your budget, but sometimes things llike death of a spouse or lay offs happen that mean you might have to work more than you wish you had to. Try a little compassion [ Reply | More ]

Really hag, so you are saying I shouldn't have a child becasue I work. I guess we should leave the child bearing to the extremely wealthy and the wellfare society. Anyone in the middle is screwed. You neeed to get a clue. I understand that you the perfect mother who sits on UB all day telling us all that we are terrible moms for working when you neglect your child more then any woh moms. You know what, we're all doing the best we can with the resources we can. It's not set up so parents get to spend time with their kids and have jobs--part time jobs don't pay enough and there aren't enough to make it possible. We need more job-sharing and more support between parents not harsh judgement of others!!! [ Reply | More ]

i have a PT job that barely pays enough to cover the childcare. but it's worth it to me to stay in my field and get out of the house and do my own thing part of the week. i wouldn't take a FT job for more money b/c i want the time with my 2 dc. (and we don't need it financially) [ Reply | More ]

not necissarily true. We are working on incorperating the 4/20 work week, or the 9/80 work week, day care at work, and p/t work with benifits. I am in the bio medical device industry. [ Reply | More ]

I'm just saying what I have heard people on the left say. I'm all for giving people options, but a company is in business to make $$, not to be loved by it's employees. [ Reply | More ]

No. If you can't commit to the job full-time, don't take the full-time job. As an employer I don't give a rat's ass about your life outside of work, as long as it doesn't affect your life INSIDE work. [ Reply | More ]

I'm a single mom, so I could only do the part-time job if it paid as well as a full-time job. I would really try for something in between. A full-time job does not nec. require someone to be away from home for 11 hours a day. (I'm away from ds for 9 hours a day.) [ Reply | More ]
