He'll likely get a boost to $110K. Most companies don't give more than 20% raises to in-house promotions, regardless of the level of promotion. [ Reply | More ]

hijack..please help...my dh is in advertising/branding, has a masters in ad, i think he is being cheated in his pay, he has been working for 3 years post-grad school in branding, he is making about 6000.00 every month before taxes and insurance (only 4000.00 after taxes taken out and insurance out, we can barely pay our mortage with this). Do you think he is being cheated?????? [ Reply | More ]

$72,000 sounds a touch high for a brand manager. Why do you think he is being cheated? [ Reply | More ]

i guess because he is making so much less than everyone else there, he has the least experience so i get it, he needs more years under his belt, but these people are making a lot of money....i need some patience [ Reply | More ]

I can't speak for "everyone else" there, but I know the industry and he's making good money for that job function within this industry. How much experience does he have? [ Reply | More ]

Um, it's hard in NYC on any salary. We're raising a family of five on nearly half that. You just need to find a more affordable place to live. [ Reply | More ]

Hell YES. He's doing better than he OUGHT to be, in fact. If anything his company is being way too generous given his lack of experience. [ Reply | More ]

Good for you. I have a doctorate and I'm only making $48K. DH has only a bachelor's degree and he's making $900K. Degrees mean nothing when it comes to compensation. [ Reply | More ]

op:thanks, i know getting a phd is so much freakin work and then the compensation can be horrible, i probably won't make much more than that...it was an intellectual pursuit that will never pay off monetarily, i'm wishing i got an mba instead, seriously [ Reply | More ]
