Please be kind and accept that I feel very socially awkward. I'm going to a family bar mitzvah this weekend. The grandfather of the bar mitzvah boy has just been diagnosed with cancer that has spread - it's not good. The grandmother (the wife) will be there. When I see her, I'm not sure what to say. If I say I'm sorry, it seems to imply that her husband is already dead. What's the best thing to say in this situation? TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]
