CAn we discuss ERB report wording...what are the hidden negatives to look out for? dc scores 99/99/99 report is very good, and totally gets dc's strengths and weaknesses, but I am wondering if I should be reading more into it. TIA (not prepped btw so not worried that report says that somehow) [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

sorry. i know nothing about ERBs. i live in ny but send to parochial school. no testing, no admissions process. just fill out a form and give them a deposit. [ Reply | More ]

yeah. there are certainly issues that we have, but the competition and testing things that i keep seeing people talk about aren't an issue for us. [ Reply | More ]

we did meet with the principal when we went in but it wasn't a big deal (it was part tour on our part and part interview on their part). i guess every school is different. [ Reply | More ]

yes I think they are but I think more are like your school. I don't think many catholic schools test (interview) the applicants [ Reply | More ]

That is slightly negative but not terrible, and with those scores it probably won't matter a whit. Does DC generally have good concentration? [ Reply | More ]

yes, but also very true that if dc is not interested loses concentration and would prefer to do other things dc enjoys. i think tester understood my dc very well [ Reply | More ]

99x3 means nothing if dc has issues, but not saying OP's dc has issues. Usually, 99 kids have good concentration. [ Reply | More ]

I think it's fine but they might look at dc to see if he/she had to be refocused. No big deal but responded quickly and well to reminder is code for had to be refocused, but I don't think you should sweat it bec he/she responded well. I think playdate will reveal to them. [ Reply | More ]

it isn't news to anyone here that the 99 x3 posters get very tiresome very quickly, and it's still early in the season. [ Reply | More ]

Not prepping. Perhaps just the style of the tester? Dds report had 4 or 5, like, "Concentration is exceptional!" and stuff like that. [ Reply | More ]

I think it's the style of the test. Our dc also had very high scores and a strong report with lots of "exceptionals" and "outstandings" and "impressives" but no exclamation points. [ Reply | More ]

Depends on the tester. Dc was not prepped at all and had a few exclamation marks (also 99x3). But one little negative comment doesn't matter. My dc's report said dc was stuck on one subsection, but once she figured it out, she was able to do it very quickly. I figured, at least this shows she was not prepped at all. Report also said once the instruction was given and example was shown, dc was able to do every task very fast - I was wondering about this bec dc had to be asked what the tester wanted her to do (she's not a mind reader)... and thought maybe the tester wanted to make sure dc was not prepped (already familiar with tasks). we also had 99x3 and one "needed to be redirected" comment. DC got into 2 coed TTs (WL on trinity) and one 2nd tier. I'm guessing PS report was good and so redirected comment immaterial. [ Reply | More ]

With a 99x3 score, I think that comment about needing to be redirected may actually be a signal that they child was NOT prepped (and therefore a good comment)! [ Reply | More ]
