This might be a VBA post. but i figure there's not enough people here to really flame me :-) My question is: if a child is very good at hearing something (like a story) and remembering it (details, expressions, etc), would you consider that a good verbal ability? or is it a good memory? to me a good verbal ability is the dc every day use of words not of what he remembers and repeats. [ Reply | More ]

op: i'm starting to think the same thing. (more VBA...) My other dc is really verbal...he has a great command of language, very good at picking the right words for what he's trying to say. but with my first dc, she does have a good ability at picking up on things that she hears. i don't think it's really a memory thing b/c she's not as good with visuals. So i'm wondering if they are different types of verbal ability or if it's just a different type of memory that she has. [ Reply | More ]

or: my 2 dds were both early talkers but my younger dd is far better verbally at 3yr old than #1 was. She uses her language the way my other dd did at 4yr old. It's really weird since we didn't do anything different but maybe because she had an older sib. Not sure [ Reply | More ]
