Would love a vacation, but 5 yo ds has always been a beast when we've travelled in the past. The only thing he can handle is a visit to grandparents. Suggestion for an easy vacation near NYC that might not bug him out? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

he's a beast when travelling, or in a new environment? how long a vacation? maybe rent a house/apt for a week or so, and keep his routine as much as possible. [ Reply | More ]

a little of both. Can be difficult on a plane or train, and is thrown off by new environments. It's exacerbated by lack of sleep because he has trouble going to bed in a hotel room. Thinking a long weekend. [ Reply | More ]

get a motel/efficiency kind of place so that he has his own room, at least. hotels are hard for kids. [ Reply | More ]

coudln't reply to you, so doing it here. We do usually try to get a suite, but it's still tough. I like the house rental idea, though. Maybe he'd find that easier to deal with. [ Reply | More ]
