All right ladies, give me your best advice: been trying to get pregnant for 6 months now. I've just started charting, etc. So, what did you do to prepare yourself to get pregnant? I want to hear everything... Change of diet, vitamins, accupuncture, etc. I have an appointment with an RE soon. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

this is going to sound really stupid - but conceived while standing up - husband snuck up behind while in the bathroom - and next thing I knew, I was finally pregnant. [ Reply | More ]

OP: yes, I'm hopeful that if I can get pg once, it will happen again. But I am just now bracing myself for a longer process than the first. [ Reply | More ]

from what i have read if you have your first pg before age 35 then your fertility window is extended... but after 35 if you have never been pg (not sure if this includes a terminated pg) then your fertility starts declining rapidly. It actually starts declining at like 30 I think but that turns pretty drastic after 35 [ Reply | More ]

i am not sure about extending your fertility window. My sister in law had her first at 37, her second at 39 and her third at 41 - all healthy perfect kids! and she didnt chart or worry, she's very laid back and grounded and i think that is what helped. My other sister in law had her first at 38 and he second at 40, same thing [ Reply | More ]

I am SO watching this post! I am similar to you, friend. Have done a lot of research in the last month and am trying the following: Just started (yesterday, on day 1 of cycle) B6 & Vitex which I will take throughout the cycle, on 12dpo will rub 1/4 tsp Natural Progesterone Cream into my skin, once daily until period or conception (!). I am trying to lengthen my luteal phase (which is a bit short at 10-12 dpo.) No results yet, but I'll keep you posted. Oh, Also replaced coffee w/ green tea. Good luck to you! [ Reply | More ]

OP: can you tell me a little about the natural progesterone cream? [ Reply | More ]

not sure if there was a typo. start taking progesterone right after ovulation, not 12dpo. if you get your period then stop and restart after you next ovulation. if you don't get your period :) continue to take the progesterone. not only will progesterone help lengthen your luteal phase, it will also thicken your lining which you need for the pregnancy and it aids in preventing miscarriages. good luck. i'm not the or but the person who responded about when to take it. i have never used the cream. however, due to many m/c, i used progesterone supplements - suppositories, injections and pills. I know way too much about luteal phase defects and progesterone deficiencies. there are many natural treatments for hormone issues. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks for the clarifications. Still reading up and learning. I read about the progesterone cream on here and researched online and in books at the healthfood store. the woman who runs the store i went to is a nutritionist and shared her personal exp. with the cream, so it thought i would give it a go, since i am coming off the pill after 10 years and know there is still a lot of synthetic progestin probably in my system, i will use the natural progesterone to try to rebalance. i think the second responder answered your q's on why to take it, but wanted to let you know you can get it at any natural food/ health store. Her clarifications on taking it post o. are important. [ Reply | More ]

I took the BCP for a long time and honestly I think it really screwed with my system. I'm going to try the natural progesterone to try to rebalance, too, because I feel like after many months my body is justing coming back "on line." [ Reply | More ]

I agree with the TCOYF book. If you haven't read it, it will help a lot. I have no other real advice since I'm not pregnant yet (also TTC #2), but I am taking prenatal vitamins, limiting coffee (switched to green tea), and have been doing acupuncture. Just had my first iui but don't know if I'm pregnant yet. Good luck. [ Reply | More ]

don't try every other day during the fertile time like they say, we did it every day of that weeklong window, plus a couple days before and after that window, just in case, worked like a charm [ Reply | More ]

Nothing. I got pg on the first try at 32 however I'm not sure if trying for a while would have made me appreciate it more. I don't know - I'm sort of ambivalent about the pregnancy to tell you the truth. [ Reply | More ]

I took 7 months to get pg (1st one), but we didn't have it charted out right, which I realized after I got anxious and really looked at the what day what happens. A few times one of us was out of town during ov. I see some ppl say cut coffee and switch to green tea, I am skeptical about that because often green tea has even more caffeine than coffee and the caffeine in coffee can prevent pg. So switch to anything decaf. [ Reply | More ]

My weight and activity level were already good, so I started taking vitamins, DH started taking vitamins, I quit Diet Coke, he quit social smoking. I'd been charting for years so I just watched for the signs. But the most important tip is to orgasm!!! If it doesn't work out for you during the sex, do it manually or with a vibrator right afterwards. If you don't want DH's feelings hurt, just go "wash up" in the bathroom, run the water, and get off real quick. Swear to god it helps. [ Reply | More ]

I did acupuncture after not conceiving for two years and conceived after three months. I also did IUI, so that had something to do with it, but it was unmedicated. I would highly recommend acupuncture. [ Reply | More ]
