How important is parent involvement in pre-school? Do you volunteer in your child's class? Have you taken time off of work (if working) to go and read a story to your kid's class? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

There have been several studies done which suggest that children who's parents participate in school (volunteer, attend activities,...) do better in school. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, both DH and I come to the classroom for events (as do almost all other parents), and I volunteer as well. We both work, btw. [ Reply | More ]

It is of course that parents play an important role in children’s preschool days. I’m too busy with my work to go to my daughter’s class, but I find some other ways to accelerate my daughter’s interest in studying, preparing her for primary school. I ordered some cute math and reading exercises of 1 grade on beestar.org. There are 2 exercises every week respectively. These exercises aren’t quite difficult, and they’re fine for preschool kids. I find my daughter loves them very much, and she is always so excited when she gets the ribbons. My daughter will enter the primary school next semester, and Preparing ahead of time will make her ease to deal with the curricula. Lisa [ Reply | More ]
