Someone referred to C&C as the ultimate progressive school--I'd love to hear more about why this is and what makes the school good. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

The school has, for 90-odd years, adhered to the tenets of its founder Caroline Pratt (google her and her book "I Learn From Children") who was one of the early proponents of experiential, social-studies based education. The school uses the same materials in the same way as it did back when it began, the Jobs program and the Block program are central to the curriculum in each grade which emphasizes learning by doing, communal progress, individual research to solve problems -- there are no grades, just individual progress reports.
