Hunter's strongest points, in my opinion, are that there is a bright group of kids and that it is a K-12 school. The elementary school has a progressive philosophy. [ Reply | More ]

Don't forget that it's not a DOE school and is in its own building. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, it's a good school. Dc must score above a cut-off score on the SB to qualify for the 2nd round. [ Reply | More ]

It's a public school. A good public school for kids who test high enough at 3 or 4 years old. They do well on an IQ test given by a stranger without the parent in the room... Private schools use a different test, usually given at their preschool, the ERB. [ Reply | More ]

Many private school applicants take the ERB at the ERB offices. [ Reply | More ]

right but what is the point of the "by a stranger without a parent in the room" part of the post? is that a big deal? [ Reply | More ]

It depends on your child. Going down the hall by yourself with a stranger, leaving your parent or guardian in the waiting room, can be a big deal for some children. [ Reply | More ]

You have to get a list of approved testers from Hunter and follow instructions (test within a certain window, give tester a Hunter card). It's on the Hunter website: http://hces.hunter.cuny.edu/?m1=1&m2=1 [ Reply | More ]
