Let him climb. I've never understood why this is a problem. Just send him back when he gets out [ Reply | More ]

i'm afraid of him falling while he's scaling the side of his crib. that's pretty much the only issue. [ Reply | More ]

You know what? They're pretty good at it. My kids never fell from climbing in or out of their cribs [ Reply | More ]

np: my issue isn't the falling from the climbing -- it's the fact that it prevents him from napping or going to bed. As if I didn't have enough sleep issues. A crib tent won't work with our crib, so it looks like toddler bed for us. [ Reply | More ]

Once they get past the novelty of getting out, they will go back to sleeping [ Reply | More ]

the other danger is they climb out in the middle of the night and wander around the house. [ Reply | More ]

Crib tent. I know, I know. DC actually loved it. Figured out how to open it, and knew to only open it in the morning or after naps only. Even after he could climb out easily, he would ask for the crib tent to be zipped up for sleep. [ Reply | More ]

same with mine. loved the tent, could open and close it himself, but wouldn't go to sleep unless i closed it. [ Reply | More ]

I put mine in a bed. Gate across the bedroom door, remove anything in the bedroom he could hurt himself with. [ Reply | More ]

np: ditto. We put our ds in a bed at 20 mos, b/c he was climbing out. If he came out, we would put a gate across, though he stopped coming out once he realized we would gate him in, so that lasted only a couple of nights. It was an easy transition actually for naptime especially, because he was still really tired and really needed a nap at that age, so it was never a struggle to keep him in bed at naptime [ Reply | More ]
