Just received ERB score today. It took 4 weeks+. Score is 97. Is this considered good enough score for Dalton or Trinity? I know ERB is not everything - However I want to start looking schools based upon the score. Thank you. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

here we go again. trinity does not select on scores. a far more interesting mix of criteria. dalton is big on scores so 99s have a better chance. that being said, if you, as a family, offer something they want, the score is good enough. [ Reply | More ]

Still awaiting a score here. But connected psd said forget about Dalton unless you have a 99. You won't seriously be looked at with lower unless you have that whatever something they need. [ Reply | More ]

Age also matters. If you have an older child, 97+ is probably good if you have a young one (and particularly a summer one) it better be a 99 if you want a second look [ Reply | More ]

Apparently Babby makes everyone feel like their child is getting in. I can't decide if that's good - she's very positive, etc., or if it's bad - raises expectations way too much. [ Reply | More ]

NOthing is a guarantee. 99 kids get rejected, too. Of course, the kid has to be smart, but also very socially rounded (favor more extroverted, verbal ones though shy kids get in, too) and prek report is imp, parents who are nice, etc., etc. and even then, it depends on how many spots they have left. It's hard to tell from these posts which posters are parents of Dalton kids and which ones are just going by stereotype. We are an incoming Dalton family and do not feel this year's incoming families were showy or wealthy at the few events they've had so far. also, in terms of education, etc. Dalton will either peg you as one of the poorer (read MC) families, and that will be appealing more so because of diversity. But what they really want are the in group blacks with beaucoup bucks and connections in that world. otherwise being mixed Asian/Jewish is a big boost [ Reply | More ]

While some AA families are extremely wealthy (like Al Roker), I met many AA families who are NOT. But I must admit even the ones who are not $$ are still eloquent, savvy and educated for the most part. BTW, Dalton does care about attracting smart kids BUT they really do care about attracting families who share the same goals/values with them. [ Reply | More ]
