Speaking of size, I heard there's a new trend among moms of pre-teen boys to give the boys HGH in the hopes they will be very tall. The idea is that tall = more successful. Heard this from a mom who is a professional trainer. She was appalled [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

lol my son is super tall at 7 and will be huge when fully grown. It has its down side. Many people expect more from him because they assume he is 10 or so. [ Reply | More ]

Apparently the new trend is to give it to normal sized kids. Meaning kids who don't have a problem [ Reply | More ]

some docs will look the other way if enough money is on the table or if the parents are persistent enough. [ Reply | More ]

Why do they want them to be very tall? Is it for sports? I can see not wanting ds to be very short but beyond that it's nuts. [ Reply | More ]

The mom said these moms who are doing it are thinking being taller means making more money in life, aka, "successful" [ Reply | More ]

That's absurd. It's not like the tallest guys are the most successful, I think you do hit a point of diminishing returns somewhere around 6'2 or so. [ Reply | More ]

When this mom said that I rattled off all the names of short billionaires I know. There are lots of them. The mom (again, she's a trainer and disagrees with the practice) said she also thought it was ridiculous. But this is what she hears at work [ Reply | More ]

I think if you look around you'll find some statistics claiming that to be true (tall men are more successful). Whether true or not, it's ridiculous to load your kid up with artificial hormones for that purpose! [ Reply | More ]

I think this is an urban legend. I can't imagine there are lots of doctors out there willing to prescribe growth hormones for no medical reason. that is serious stuff. [ Reply | More ]

Well, women take it to stay younger looking, so obviously there are bad doctors out there [ Reply | More ]

What do you mean "trend"? Are doctors really lining up to write these prescriptions? Or are the mother's buying the HGH from abroad? [ Reply | More ]
