Just found out that my nanny has been at least 10 minutes late picking my ds up from camp the last 2 days. I pretty upset with this since my ds is in a new environment and is feeling lots of anxiety. It can't help if he's the last one waiting in the room, wondering if someone is going to pick him up. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

he didn't yesterday... haven't seen him yet today. I'll ask him about it. But I do know that he's having a hard time adjusting to his camp and this can't help. [ Reply | More ]

How did you find out? It's very poor that this is happening. Did you speak with the nanny yet? [ Reply | More ]

my friend told me -- she said she felt so bad for my ds yesterday that she wanted to take him with her. He was the last one waiting and they had already closed the door, so it was just him and the teacher. Haven't spoken with the nanny yet. Don't want to tell her my friend told me. Maybe I could say someone from school called me? [ Reply | More ]

Yes, I"d mention that someone from the school called and ask her why? If it's a timing issue she should leave more time to pick him up. [ Reply | More ]

OP: I wouldn't want to tell her that my friend told me b/c my ds often has playdates with her dd, so my friend has to see a lot of my nanny. [ Reply | More ]

maybe, but it bugs me that she lied to me. I asked her if she would arrange playdates with other kids in the class who had nannies, and she said she didn't see any other nannies around... of course! Everyone was gone by the time she got there! [ Reply | More ]

Honestly, I think you are overracting to the entire thing. Tell her someone called from the school and find out what's happening. This is only two days, did you expect her to set up playdates in that time? Today being day 2????????????????????????????????? [ Reply | More ]

I generally think people on here complain about their nannies too quickly, but I think this is a very valid complaint. She has every right to be upset. No she shouldn't scold the nanny, but she should talk to her to make sure that it doesn't keep happening. Nip it in the bud, OP. And let her know you know without saying how you know. Nanny knows she's late. You could've found out from any number of sources, she's not going to ask how you know. [ Reply | More ]

I hate this logic. Start with being early and work backwards. Not the other way around. [ Reply | More ]

OP here: for some reason, I can't reply to people. Anyway, I'm not annoyed that she hasn't arranged plydates, but I'm annoyed that she lied about knowing whether there were other nannies or not. How could she know if she's been late?! As for lateness, I would think that if she's still working out timing of her commute, she would make a point of giving herself extra time early on. It's the responsible thing to do. [ Reply | More ]
