Can an organization perform a background check w/out your permission? I volunteer somewhere that states all volunteers who work w/children have had background checks. I know I never gave them permission - not that I really care - just wondering if they're really doing what they say. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I do not believe that is true - no state agency will release criminal records without signed authorization and the CORI check is what they are going to do first. [ Reply | More

criminal records are public records. not arrests, but convictions? uyou can get that on teh internet for 60 bucks. [ Reply | More
