Tell me it will get better, please. Recently moved out of NYC (two months). Love our house, on lakefront in great community. Everyone we meet is very nice, but I really am only friendly with one mom so far. Don't want to overload her, but some days she is the only adult I speak to other than DH. I swear I was nearly in tears the day the contractors left, because at least then people were around. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Both are in school. I hope it gets better after school lets out. There are beaches and summer programs, etc. [ Reply | More ]

It's a little late in the year, of course, but in the fall you can join school committees or volunteer, or get a part-time job, I guess. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, the school is a big deal here, so if I join a committee in the fall it should help. [ Reply | More ]

Also, if it is slow here, go to youbemom.com (not spam) for busier online conversation. There have been days in the suburbs when I relied on that to stay sane. [ Reply | More ]

join the junior league -- when i moved to the burbs, i didn't know a soul and then i joined the league and met a million great women -- and don't worry -- they don't wear white gloves and pearls. [ Reply | More ]
