Anybody ever deal with oppositional defiance disorder? Anyone know any professionals in NYC that can handle this with an adopted child? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

No, she means ODD (np). It is lately overdiagnosed, but is a real problem, often found in conjunction with ADHD or OCD. [ Reply | More ]

np: Don't have referral, but have friends in LA whose DS has triad syndrome - ADHD, Tourette's and OCD. A variant of this has ODD instead of OCD. Medication and therapy has worked wonders for him. GL. [ Reply | More ]

not to make light of your situation (and no, I can't help you with a referral), but my sister jokes that all her students have ODD. She teaches middle school. [ Reply | More ]

OP: I'm keeping this on watch; gotta go pick up kids from school. TIA for any names or information -- maybe even a very skilled, very experienced child psychologist? [ Reply | More ]

Yes, there is a doc. He wrote a book. Hmmm.... I think its called The Explosive child. If you google you will find. They have a website where you can list your address and they get back to you in a few days with any docs that have trained with them. [ Reply | More ]
