Random poll, but do you leave DC's bedroom door open during the night? 2.5 yo DD has been asking to keep it open so to avoid a fight we have been, but wondering what others do. Thx. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

8 y.o. and 5 y.o. sleep with door open. 2 y.o. sleeps with it closed. Before the older two had to get up for school anyway, I would leave the door open while they were awake and then close it when I went to bed so DH getting up didn't wake them. Now they have to get up before DH so we leave it open all night. [ Reply | More ]

our 3yo absolutely insists on it being open. he will freak out if it's closed. i think at that age they start being afraid of the dark and being alone. we used to fight him but just gave up and moved on. [ Reply | More ]

lately we have been closing it at their request, but we have to make sure the youngest can let herself out (3 y.o.). [ Reply | More ]

why would you fight about this? What is the problem with having the door open? [ Reply | More ]

np: for us, ds's room opens into our main living space so when the door is open it's really hard for him to fall asleep. he can see us watching tv, eating snacks, etc. [ Reply | More ]

so be quiet until he falls asleep, then shut the door for the night, and then open it before you go to bed. [ Reply | More ]

keep it open unless ds gets out of bed too many times, then threaten to close it if he can't sleep with it open. [ Reply | More ]
