Posting here so I bite my tongue in real life: I'm so tired of listening to a friend complain about her ds' behavior as if it is unavoidable. She gives in to tantrums, does not follow through on threatened consequences and allows him to speak very disrespectfully to parents, friends and other adults. Then she complains about him as if she was simply dealt a difficult child. Tell me I'm judgmental if you must but she alternately accuses me of being too hard on my kids and then says I'm lucky my children are naturally well behaved - as if they were born this way. I get the same thing from a friend of mine! She tells me what a great kid I have and then she is so disapproving about how "strict" I am! As if the two have no relationship. I admit that my child is naturally good natured and happy, but his behavior is, in part, a result of a lot of hard work on our part. You are right to be annoyed. [ Reply | More ]
