Anyone on with Gestational Diabetes? I have just failed my glucose screening test and have to go in for the three hour test tomorrow. I know a lot of people (but can't find a %) fail the first test and pass the second test but I'm trying to prepare myself for a GD diagnosis. Other than being over 35, I have no risk factors, not overweight, no family history, Caucasian etc. I haven't been eating great so now I'm beating myself up over that, even though I know a lot of it is beyond my control! Anyone btdt and have experiences to share? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I know about a dozen women who failed their first test. None of them had GD. I know I'm not an official study, but hope this makes you feel better. [ Reply | More ]

It does make me feel better - I hope I get the same result tomorrow but I'm a pessimist so I'm prepping for the worst. [ Reply | More ]

Not the info you want but I always fail the first test and have never been dx. [ Reply | More ]

No, anecdotal cases of people who have never been dx is good. Gives me some hope! [ Reply | More ]

I had it with pregnancy #1 and it was totally controlled by diet. That said, I wish you luck w/test tomorrow - easier to not have it at all. [ Reply | More ]

I'm pregnant with #2 now and haven't yet been tested. OB is assuming that I may get GD this time around, but I was so borderline last time that it may be I don't [ Reply | More ]

FWIW, all I did was test my blood sugar a few times a day and saw a nutritionist on what I should eat to avoid sugar overloads. Had a few extra appointments, but baby was actually underweight, if that's possible, despite the GD [ Reply | More ]

I think it's something like 85% pass the 3 hr test. I wouldn't worry. I had it with pg 2 and it was easily controlled with diet. Kind of a pita but not the end of the world. DS was born after due date weighing 8 lbs even. Pg. again and just on the diet and testing a little instead of doing the GTTs again. [ Reply | More ]
