My 2 1/2 yo is not really interested in the potty when we ask, but has started removing her diaper (even poopy ones) on her own after she goes in them. What should be my step at this point in potty-training? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

does she tell you before she goes? or does she only indicate after? b/c if she does tell you before she goes you could always start doing the old candy/reward for going on the potty deal - we gave ds a choice of any one piece of candy from the candy bowl (all-natural jelly beans, gummy bears, or mini marshmallows) if he went on the potty. after a month or so he had mastered it and no longer even asked for the candy reward. so maybe the first step is to determine if she can sense when she has to go. ask her to tell you. even if she doesn't use the potty. once she can tell you, try some kind of incentive to get her on the potty. (or, another option is to just put her in underwear one day - not letting her on the rug or sofa - and see what happens. tell her to let you know when she needs to go.) [ Reply | More

I'm going to suggest putting her in real underwear during the day. Then she will realize she has also peed. Maybe she'd realize the potty is there to help her? [ Reply | More

Went to potty training "class" and we were told to put kid on toilet every 20 minutes no matter what. If they made pee or poo, then reward big. They said it could be done over a weekend. We're going to try it soon. [ Reply | More
