Just put 2.4 yo dd into big girl bed and now she won't nap! For night time, it took her about an hour but then she fell asleep and didn't wake until morning. But for what used to be a 2 hour nap, she just plays in there the whole time! And is cranky without a nap - not ready to give it up! Too young for big bed?? She kept asking for it... She is not too young for the bed, but maybe she is giving up her nap. We switched to a "quiet time" at about that age. Dc used to be allowed to look at books or play quietly, but had to stay in bed for a half hour. Also made bedtime earlier and easier btw. [ Reply | More ]

she's not too young. it may just take some time for her to get used to falling asleep during the day - more distractions, etc. My ds took about a month or two until he was napping "normally" in his bed. (He moved into it at the same age as your dd) Just stay consistent about having her get into her bed at naptime. See if you can enforce some kind of quiet rest time where she has to stay in her bed (or at least stay in her room). [ Reply | More ]

But he eventually did get back to napping normally?? My fear is that I will lose her nap now because of the bed, although I know she totally needs it. [ Reply | More ]

yes - back to normal until about 3.2 yo - it just took him a little while to learn how to nap in the bed. and, to be honest, we had many battles during that time. i just kept forcing him to try to sleep and eventually it worked. [ Reply | More ]
