Has anyone had or been to a birthday party at the Children's Museum of the Arts? Any comments? I'm trying to find a place for a 3 y.o. party. I'm open to any suggestions (that are semi-reasonable). Thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

me...it's ok but many ppl don't opt for the private option and we had adults there telling the kids to be quiet (could you imagine). They started free play for a while (art, ball area and a ballon artist) then had a art project and cake. Short and sweet [ Reply | More ]

If you are talking about CMom on West 83rd street they do a really good job. I also like Kidville because they provide the food and drinks as well [ Reply | More ]

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm a member of CMOM but crossed them off my list for a party place. During the summer, they only have slots from 5 to 6:30 pm. I think that might be too late in the day for the 3 y.o. set. [ Reply | More ]

np-we went to a party there last fall. it was ok-the kids liked running around, but we live downtown, so getting up there by 5 was a pita (and it was on a friday). the staff was ok-not as good as other parties I've attended [ Reply | More ]

If you are looking for a playspace, try St. Vartan's Playgroup in St. Vartan's playground. fully equipped playspace with a kitchen you can use. You have to bring in food, etc, but the room is cute and the cost is about $250. [ Reply | More ]

we have been to a bunch of parties there-very nice. also have been to parties at strike a viking and chinatown y, which I looked into and both were reasonable. another option is for you to do a joint party with a friend whose dc has a bday near your dc. we did this for my dc's 4th bday, and it was reasonable [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. I've never heard of strike a viking. I'll look into that. I'm already throwing a joint party - twins :-) [ Reply | More ]

the kids write their own story, and then it gets performed. they are cute and can do as much or as little as you'd like. [ Reply | More ]

oops, also, look into the chinatown y. you can rent out the gym space whic is pretty reasonable, and they will do a gym class for you. they also work with a woman there who can get bouncy houses, etc. you have to bring in your own food though. we didn't do it because they didn't have the date I wanted but the cost was anywhere from 400-1500 depending on what you wanted. the good thing is that they don't charge by the head-it is all a flat fee as I recall, so if you have a fluctuating guest list, you don't need to stress over it [ Reply | More ]
