Repost: Anyone here ever get rheumatic fever? Doctor says it's either that or rheumatoid arthritis, is sending me to a specialist (who can't see me until next week). In meantime, I'm on antibiotics. Doctor says if I improve with antibiotics, it's probably rheumatic fever (DS has scarlett fever right now, they are both related to strep throat). Of course I was an idiot and went online, and it sounds like damage from rheumatic fever is permanent, so I'm freaking. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

my brother had rheumatic fever when he was a teenager and is fine now. he was on penicillin for a couple of yrs though. following that, he got sick (strep, sinus infections, etc...) a whole lot. but other than that, no problems [ Reply | More
