I'm worried about my 3yo ds's weight, but it's tricky for me to see clearly b/c I have my own history with eating disorders. Watching him naked in the sprinkler today, I kept thinking about how his belly is so much fatter than the other kids', but I don't know if I'm overreacting or overfeeding him. well, she's fat for a reason and passing her eating patterns on to her child can't be a good thing. [ Reply | More ]

Why not start with ped first. If ped says no issue, take it to the shrink. [ Reply | More ]

Have to admit that I've had the same worries for my 2.5yo dd. She's always been 'husky', as some have described her... and still has that protruding pot belly that none of the other kids her age seem to have in such a pronounced way. Everyone keeps telling me not to worry, they even out. So we'll just have to wait and see. Try not to worry too much -- it can't be good for you or your kid. In the meantime, just check in with ped and do your best to instill good healthy eating habits. [ Reply | More ]

OP - You're right - I'll talk to ped. I don't want to make him crazy with food issues like me, but I don't want him to get teased either. [ Reply | More ]
