no, but my ds gets CPSE services (the next level up after EI). Be glad that your ds's problem was caught early. He'll be fine. [ Reply | More ]

I wouldnt feel sad. My daughter's experience with EI was wonderful....and now, at 4.5 she is the biggest, clearest chatterbox and sings up a storm. EI is a leg up for a little one and it is better to get it now, the earlier the better. [ Reply | More ]

I had the same thing happen when EI came to see our son (prompted by a UB post btw)...and I freaked. I promptly had DS seen by a neurologist who muttered darkly and said he saw "red flags". I was disconsolate of course. Now DS is 21 months, goes to EI and still has only a few words. BUT I strongly believe he is okay and it will work out whereas before I was worried about all kinds of things. [ Reply | More ]

I had mixed feelings as well when my 18 mos old qualified. He had no words, was reevaluated at 2 yrs and had caught up, so no longer qualified. Good luck! [ Reply | More ]

My ds said less than 10 words at 24 mos. (Mama, Dada, no, can't recall the others!). After 6 mos of speech therapy, he was up to speed and at age 5, he talks a mile a minute. [ Reply | More ]

my ds has been in EI for motor skills since he was 13 months. It has been wonderful for him. Great experience, so glad and relieved that he is doing it. It is nice to have an outside person evalutate (and play) with your child 1x week. It provided me with a sense of calmness. That said, before I started I was nervous and a bit frantic. No regrets though, quite the opposite [ Reply | More ]
