I have a friend whose 4 yo dd is a real brat (rude, sarcastic, smart mouth, gets in people's faces, points and says really mean and nasty things) to other kids and adults as well. Friend doesn't seem to notice or looks the other way most of the time. Would you say something to the child or friend? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

MYOB unless kid says something to your kid. And remove the word "brat" from your vocab b/c it will come through when you do wind up saying something. [ Reply | More ]

I have been myob-ing for the longest time but now my kid has picked up some of the other kid's "habits" and it's almost like how could I NOT say something. [ Reply | More ]

that's tough then, but I would address with child directly when she acts that way around you as someone posted below. redirect your child and tell that child she can't behave that way in your home [ Reply | More ]

I'll say it again - why would you hang out w/ a parent who doesn't discipline this out of control child? [ Reply | More ]

I can assure you that your child will one day pass on unwanted habits to another child. It works both ways (unfortunately). You need to find a way to tell your child that this isn't how you behave in your home etc. and focus more on your child than the other. [ Reply | More ]

I know a kid EXACTLY like that and the mom knows. Parents play dumb but she got the hint when ppl (including myself) wouldn't let her kid play with mine. This kid was a real PILL she cursed at her mom in front of everyone [ Reply | More ]

If she makes a smart alec remarkt o you, personally, you gently say, "we don't speak to adults that way" and enforce please and thank you if appropriate. If she is rude to your dc, you let dc know that it is wrong, and perhaps do it loud enough for dc to here it. [ Reply | More ]
