I think you can bf as long as YOU choose to. My friend nursed her dd until her new db's birth - and the older one was 3 y.o.! If the taste of your milk changes drastically then db may start refusing but I've rarely heard of this. You may decide to stop b/c the fatigue is too much. Whatever you decide, it will ALL BE OK. Your dd has received a great start already. [ Reply | More ]

I was reading in what to expect that I can go until the 3rd trimester, but I feel so guilty- I wanted to do it for a yr- so that is October, and now she will have a new sib to compete with. Sigh... on one hand, this is the most wonderful thing, but on the other, it is so overwhelming! [ Reply | More ]

np: there is really no reasearch out there on bfing while pg, so its hard to sya that you "should" stop at any particualr time. ltos of babies will self wean when you hit the 3d tri because the milk can change. [ Reply | More ]

look at it this way: the competition thing will be easier for her to deal with at 16 months than it would be at 28 months [ Reply | More ]

I would personally check out kellymom or call a lactation consultant. I didn't find what to expect to be helpful in other areas and wouldn't trust it for this [ Reply | More ]

It will be hard when they are little but they will be great friends when they get older. [ Reply | More ]

Holy crap. That was a nightmare of mine -- I did a ton of pregnancy tests my db's first year of life to make sure I was NOT pregnant. [ Reply | More ]

Congratulations and good luck! I know it's unexpected but you can do it. My MIL had all her kids about a year and a half apart and I have 2 sets of nieces/nephews who are 3 kids each, all about a year and a half apart. It's tough but doable and much easier when the kids are older. [ Reply | More ]

I was in your position when DS was 11 mos. Scary as hell! Still have a few months left to go, but I do feel better about it as time passes. My milk totally dried up within a week or so of being pg. That may not happen to you, but it's not uncommon, so be prepared for it. Congratulations and good luck! [ Reply | More ]
