Maybe someone can answer this question for me. I don't understand, if there is such an overcrowding problem in D3 (and I don't doubt there is), why they are able to do this lottery? I know there are not a large # of seats in the lottery, but still. I just don't get this. [ Reply | More ]

Some schools are overcrowded, not all. [ Reply | More ]

But apparently 87 and 9 gave away seats in this year's lottery. Aren't those among the most popular schools in D3? [ Reply | More ]

their G&T programs are extremely popular, but there is sometimes space in their Ged Ed programs for non-catchment DCs (many of the DCs in those zones go to private school). [ Reply | More ]

87 doesn't have G&T. It's a high performing Gen Ed school. That's why it's popular. And it isn't overcrowded. [ Reply | More ]

you're right - 9 does, but 87 does not. [ Reply | More ]

np: yes, but being "popular" doesn't make your zone bigger. the schools have room for more kids than are zoned. [ Reply | More ]
