I really liked ps11, but it doesn't seem to be in favor here. Am I missing something? I thought the principal and teachers were really great, nice facility, great arts program, etc. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I have friends with a dc there and they love it. I think it is a really nice school although I am not sure I would commute to far for it. [ Reply | More ]

I really liked it as well. I would have ranked it second after Anderson - did not return form - we are moving. [ Reply | More ]

I really liked it, but after thinking long and hard, I'm still not that comfortable with it. I think it would be great for K and elementary but am worried about middle school. We are holding a private accept, and we will probably just go ahead and spend the $$ although I am still undecided. [ Reply | More ]

I don't understand your post. PS 11 only goes to 5th grade. Kids apply out for MS [ Reply | More ]

Same here, but maybe private puts her dc in a better position for MS? [ Reply | More ]

np: if the privatse goes through 12, she's eliminated that worry. [ Reply | More ]

If the private schools goes through 8th grade, she's eliminated it also. [ Reply | More ]

OR here (UB won't let me post under response) I mean I don't want to reapply for MS. Our private accept is only through 8th, but exmissions are good. But a lotta $$$ which is why I'm torn. [ Reply | More ]

I admit I'm one of those who is scared of "project" kids, as much as I hate to, and of the "have/have not" mentality that could exist there. [ Reply | More ]

It's a lovely school. The principal and staff are thoughtful and caring. they know all the kids by heart. don't listen to the gossip mongers and elitist moms. this is an up and coming school which people will be dying to get into in a few years. [ Reply | More ]

PS 11 is a hidden secret. I can't believe what some of you elitist moms and gossip mongers are writing. PS 11 probably wouldn't be right for you; most parents there are much more down to earth. My child is in the G&T program at PS 11: he loves going to school everyday; loves his teachers and principal; and doesn't judge any other child whether they are in G&T or not . Stay away type A parents! You already had the preconceived opinions about the school before you toured or if you even toured. Oh and by the way...for those who are scared...my second child did not pass the G&T 90% but I applied for the "placement request" thru the DOE for gen ed there because of everything the school has to offer. What other school offers the chance for a modern dance company to come in and teach the entire second graders a performance to die for? We have theater arts, music, computers, gym (in a real gymnasium), a beautiful auditorium for our plays and a solid PTA that made a substantial amount of $ this year for our children next year. Oh and the class trips -- theater, theater, and exploring NYC!!! To have your child look forward to going to school in the morning is the best feeling; and from our present experience, most of the children in his G&T class feel the same way. We hope that our other child gets in as a sibling to experience all that PS 11 offers, even in general ed! For all the parents putting down PS 11 -- you have no idea... [ Reply | More ]
