Help! I'm looking for a terrific book that will help me deal with my toddler's lovely, new tantrums and whining. Any book you've had great success with? I need a whole method for dealing with this stuff. Otherwise, my "method" is going to be to start drinking heavily. tia [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

never used a book. just be clear with expectations and be repetitious. it obviously doesn't all sink in for a while, but eventually she'll get it. for whining i would say to my son, "please say it nicely" and then ignore him as he whines. as soon as he says it nicely give lots of praise. tantrums: put her in a safe area and let her rip. eventually she'll get tired and will accept your help. don't give any attention to a tantrum though. both 'methods' have worked for my son [ Reply | More ]
