My 13 month old is becoming impossible. He's crying all the time, won't sit on the floor and play, just wants to be held. He has moments where he is happy and laughing, so I don't think it's an ear infection, but he does have a big molar coming in. Could this just be teething crankiness or is this his new toddler personality? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

when did it get better? My ds was the sweetest, happiest baby - this is a bit of a shock! [ Reply | More ]

was he sweet and happy in your eyes because he didn't demand too much of your UB time? By the way, is your baby on the floor right now crying while you hover over the computer? [ Reply | More ]

This responder is the reason I quit coming to UB - for some reason it attracts the nastiest, most self-righteous, angry individuals. Do you talk to people like this in real life? [ Reply | More ]

if you quit coming to UB, then why the hell are you posting about why you quit coming to UB? Moron. [ Reply | More ]

I haven't been here in months - I thought it would be a good place to ask about the change. I wanted to see what other's have experienced at this age. Why are you so hostile? [ Reply | More ]

np - what is wrong with you? The OP is trying to get used to a new transition with her baby. Some of the stages are difficult to get used to. Nowhere does she suggest that she isn't properly caring for her child. You sound like one unhappy individual. [ Reply | More ]

no, she's complaining that her "impossible" son just "wants to be held." Sounds like it's time to step up to the Mommy Plate! [ Reply | More ]

I've been a full time mom for 13 months - I breast fed exclusively and wore him in the sling for the first few months. He seemed to want more independence for a while and this is a change. I promise you, I have been a mommy for the past 13 months. But I don't understand why so many women on this board are so snarky. Do you talk to your friends like this in real life? [ Reply | More ]

op - thank you for the response. I can see that a big molar is coming in on top. It's sad to see him so unhappy but hopefully when the tooth comes through he might settle down a little. [ Reply | More ]

could be anything. separation anxiety, the tooth. I worry that you call him "impossible" because he just wants to be held. Some kids just have days when they want their mommy to hold them all day. [ Reply | More ]

Looking back I realize my 16 month old was a night mare due to teething BUT more so because he just couldn't communicate what he wanted. He didn't have the language skills and was very frustrated. I found the ages of 16 months to three years ( terrible twos?) so hard. But don't underestimate the teething. It hurts. Someone pointed oput to me that it's bone ripping through flesh. Yikes. It is also usually the source of a mild grade infection and even diaper rash. Good luck. You'll both get through it and I don't think it reflects his personality at all. [ Reply | More ]
