6yo DS has weird rash. Started on his face, now spread to chest and back with a little on arms and legs. Google came up with scarlett fever and rubella. Any other ideas? Calling doctor in the morning (yesterday I thought it might just be heat rash, but it's clear something is up tonight). [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It's not an emergency, I can't call the dr now. And I posted because I'm a little nervous and feel guilty that I didn't realize it wasn't heat rash right away. Give me just the smallest break please. [ Reply | More ]

any vaccines or cold/illness symptoms in the past week? Is it on the palms/soles? Scarlett fever is the rash with strep throat- definately a possibility- sore throat, stomach ache or headache? Rubella unlikely presuming he was vaccinated [ Reply | More ]

He had a mild cold last week. Throat looks clear. Was just looking further and seems as though a lot of viruses can cause these rashes - that reassured me. Thx. [ Reply | More ]

if he is well otherwise, rash will likely go away within a few days (aka viral exanthem) [ Reply | More ]

my dd had the same and it was called scarlett something. She got it when we went to St. Lucia. It's harmless and antibiotic should work. [ Reply | More ]
