asking for advice... sorry so boring... we have a weird polyurethane/paint-type smell leaking into our apartment from somewhere. so far we haven't been able to pin down what it is and our super is not super helpful. any advice on how to proceed? it smells unhealthy to me, and i don't want my daughter breathing it in. on the other hand, don't know how to quantify it. we've had a number of things tested regarding air quality, but so far, no answers. we do live above a dry cleaner-- could that be creating a fumey smell? tia! that's unnerving... with all the chemicals they use. Can you get a company to come and test for that ? I see you've had the air tested for "air quality" but does that include chemicals from downstairs ? [ Reply | More ]

thanks for responding. that's exactly what i'm not sure of, if the test covers all possible chemicals. presumably no. i'm never sure whether to trust my nose or no... anyway, thx. [ Reply | More ]

I think your nose is a good thing to go by... can you call some org regarding workplace safety to find out how they test for airborn contaminants in the dry cleaning business and start there to fnd someone to test for the chem in your apt ? [ Reply | More ]
