3 yo is newly trained. He pooped in the potty the last 2 days without incident. Today, he keeps telling me he needs to go, but no poop comes out. I think he may be afraid, but I don't want to regress and give him a diaper. He is only wearing a diaper at night, and is otherwise in underwear. Any advice? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

no diapers! tell him calmly that sometimes poop takes a long time to come out and it's no big deal. if he has an accident, it's also no big deal--he's learning something new and he is doing a GREAT job! GL. [ Reply | More

He might just have gas. Also the heat may lead to a harder BM, thus more difficult to come out. Don't worry and if he has an accident--no worries: no one ever walked down the aisle without being potty trained first:) [ Reply | More
