i am a teacher and the best ones you can get are all based on the same philosophy of the great psychologist, rudolf dreikurs. he has two books called, 'children, the challenge" and 'the challenge of parenthood". there is one by jane nelson called, 'positive discipline". i have been using his theories since dd was born and have no discipline problems and i attribute it to practicing dreikurs' suggestions. i also taught very difficult students and used his theories with great success. ps...do not take anyone's suggestion for 123 magic. its' suggestions do not treat the child with dignity and respect. it may 'work' temporarily but it is unkind and children harbor bad freelings from treatment like that. i think it is a popular book here. [ Reply | More ]

you are welcome. it takes a lot to practice the techniques but it is definitely the way to go. you feel good, the baby feels good, the baby gets socialized appropriately and acts accordingly at home and out of it. if you cannot find it in a bookstore, you can get it onn line at ABE books for about a dollar. it was written a whie ago but still holds true today. may seem outdated (names like ethel, moms only work in the home, etc) [ Reply | More ]
