Going away for a long weekend vacation with dh's family. MIL wants to go out to dinner one night, but wants to leave my 18 mos ds at the house rental. She suggested to have dh's cousin's cousin's babysitter watch him while we go out to dinner. The cousin's cousin is only an acquaintance and doesn't know his wife or family. I would rather not leave ds with someone I have never met, even if it's a recommendation, but MIL and Dh thinks it's not a big deal. (Dh probably only agrees b/c his mom suggested.) We all live within an hour from each other; why not go out when dh and I can have our own babysitter watch him. It's supposed to be a "family" vacation. WWYD? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'm pretty relaxed about stuff like this. At 18mo, my kids would have just slept through the time. I would request to make it a later dinner so I could put DB to sleep before leaving. [ Reply | More ]

I would not leave my child with a stranger and I wouldn't be bullied into doing this. Get your dh to support you on this. [ Reply | More ]

Your ds has never met the sitter? I wouldn't do it. [ Reply | More ]
