There's a great, non-expensive, organic product to get rid of odors like this - BAC -OUT that's made by Bio-Kleen and Fairway, WHole Foods sells it. You spray it on the item, wait 20 minutes, then wash as usual with soap. I use it for all stuff that's been in storage and even those things that got a bit mildewy from the beach. Works great.
