OK, I'm pissed off. My ds did not get into PS87 pre-K which we are zoned for. That's fine, I didn't expect it since he's not a sibling. But I just found out that two non-sibs from out of the zone got in. DOE sucks. Makes me want to send ds to private so we won't have to deal with their incompetence. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

this is pre-K, with limited spots. In my zoned school, there are more kids trying to get in than there are spots. Hence the lottery. [ Reply | More

Please call the DOE and say something. The best way to improve this process is if they're held accountable for the screw-ups, but for that they need to know about their mistakes or if people are gaming the system (if the out-of-zone people lied about their address). [ Reply | More

You need to report this & appeal. Call the school (parent coordinator). They screwed up the whole process tis year all over the city -- it has been on TV & in every paper. Look on the DOE site & Inside Schools on how to appeal. One of my twins got rejected for PreK at our school where my older daughter attends. Unless you tell them what is going on though, they won't be able to help you. [ Reply | More

Send your appeal here -- ES_Enrollment@schools.nyc.gov Things are such a mess you really should reach out to the school and to the DOE directly at this email. There is a process to air your grievance. GO to the school. They can't put an unzoned before a zoned. You need to have this corrected and the polite but squeaky wheel gets the oil. Good luck [ Reply | More
