depends on the situation. If it is really truly discrimination, then yes, I think it needs to be fought on whatever level makes sense. If it's just someone being hypersensitive then maybe not. What is it about the situation that makes your friends uncomfortable? [ Reply | More ]

i did not get chosen by my department and I know two teachers have religious prejudices that affected their decision (they as much as admitted it). If I make a complaint they will have to talk about how they voted and I know that one of my friends did not vote for me. [ Reply | More ]

that's a toughie. Is the person who did get chosen just as qualified? It's going to be a difficult thing to prove unless the other person is clearly less qualified than you. It's hard to prove these things. [ Reply | More ]

i don't know that she is less qualified but I know she got two votes just for her religion and she would not have made it without those votes [ Reply | More ]

but unless she has a tape of them saying it, or hsa it in writing, it is going to come down to her word against someone elses. Unless of course, they will say that in court. Besides, if OP and the other person are equally qualified, I'm not sure it's dsicrimination to base a decision on that. You could base it on appearance or the fact that they like one person better etc. It can get really nuanced [ Reply | More ]

he is. He is a family member but he said this is stronger than most cases he gets. You really don't think I can win with them admitting their prejudice? [ Reply | More ]

Proof on paper? Evidence witnessed by another person? I might throw you a few dollars to get you to shut up but is it worth being blackballed from your profession? [ Reply | More ]
