15 mo DD is not just not walking, but won't even/can't even stand on her own. She has crawled and pulled up for ages, and is comfortable cruising but has no interest in walking and stands only to reach something. Any cause for concern? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

This is within normal range for walking but if you are concerned talk to ped. [ Reply | More ]

OP: Do you think it's normal range for standing? I know ped won't be worried about walking until 18mo, but was wondering especially about standing [ Reply | More ]

But she can stand just not free standing. I really wouldn't worry yet. [ Reply | More ]

My kid did the same and we were a bit concerned, as she'd been profoundly verbal and we thought this was late. We talked to a PT w/out ever meeting and she asked some good questions: Was she an only? [ Reply | More ]

Were we older parents(40+)? Were we always 'walking' her? Lifting her when she asked to be? All our answers were "Yes." PT recommended we resist the urge to walk her, lift her to her feet on demand [ Reply | More ]

and begin actually moving away from her, while she was seated in a safe, outdoor environment- not ignoring her but demonstrating the freedom that comes from walking. [ Reply | More ]

My db was the exact same way until a few days before he turned 18 mos; then he just stood up and started walking. [ Reply | More ]

I was 19 months before I walked. Before that I shuffled around on my butt! But I walk great now (i'm 42!) Keep a close eye, but don't be alarmed - there is a very large range of normal for these things and it's easy to get crazy when all your friend's kids are walking already. [ Reply | More ]
