today i was folding laundry. 21 mo dd wanted my attention and started to fuss, and then started to cry. i was putting away things and just going on about my bussiness. then, eventually, i hugged her and tried to console her. she said, 'no cry, no cry'. is this normal? i don't always run to her when she cries and i am wondering if she thinks that she is not allowed to cry. I doubt very much she thinks she can't cry. When you console her do you say anything like don't cry to her if so she is probably just repeating that back to you. It sounds normal to me. [ Reply | More ]

no. i sometimes say, 'you can cry' but i don't pick her up. there are times in which i do not want to console her because then i will be inviting her to repeat the behaviors. [ Reply | More ]
