How is this for a short term plan- I lost my job and I'm in the middle of a divorce, 2 dc. I am taking two weeks to wallow and drink, one week on vaca with dc (planned a while back), then two months working on me (dc in camp). Then I will begin to panic about being unemployed. I lost my job too and need to come up for clever ideas to bring in income. I agree with taking 2 weeks off and vacation, I'd send out resumes during the week and follow-up asap. g/l [ Reply | More

I just lost my job too. I can't get over the feeling of failure, I feel like everyone is looking at me as I walk around and thinking, boy what a loser. Does anyone have any good redemption stories? Like Donna Shalala was fired at Teacher's College, and then became president of Hunter and Education Secretary. I need more stories like that. OP: does waiting make any difference in your field? I lost my job at an investment bank while pg, started a new job a few days later at a different ib and was able to bank all my severance and benefits from the first job (about 2 years worth of salary). About 2 years into the new job, old firm called me begging me to come back. [ Reply | More
