If my 3 yo ds had his way, he would only eat pasta, avocados and chicken tenders. Oh, and pizza, cheese and apples. I am not interested in being a short-order cook and expect him to eat what the rest of the family is eating. I am nice about it but firm. I put everything on his plate and ask him to taste it. I try to offer at least one thing I know he will eat. But sometimes he melts down and won't eat anything. How should I handle? I am trying to be consistent about this but it is hard. He used to eat a greater variety of foods so I'm sort of flummoxed about this. TIA [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

In my experience, kids who used to eat a wide variety of foods revert to a few things ONLY when they turn 3yo and they come out of it at 6yo. My two kids did this. And my brother's kids did this. All of a sudden at 6yo they were back to eating a variety. Who knows what's up with that? Maybe toddlers require more carbs and less vegetables and meat [ Reply | More ]
