Chicago suburban moms. If we only want to spend $600K or less on a home, will we feel completely out of place in Hinsdale or Clarendon Hills? Want the schools, but don't plan to spend more than this. Don't want to be keeping up with the Jones, but want good schools. Other suburb recos that fit this (with a decent commute to O'hare?) [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

We are in Hinsdale and absolutely love it. We bought 1.5 years ago for 800k and have a 1985 house with 4 bd, very small kitchen, large family room, 3.5 ok baths, but a great lot and location. We do feel fine, but are definitely on the low end. You would do better in Clarendon Hills and get the same great schools - and the schools are fabulous. I have one in elem (special ed - LD) one in middle (gifted) and one started high school (very avg kid) [ Reply | More ]
