Looks like the MTA will be raising fares again soon as they are on the verge of a serious budget crisis. Apparently, the state is refusing to release the money promised. It feels like Bloomberg isn't stepping in for either the MTA or the DOE monies! How would your lives be effected by an MTA fare hike? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

NYC is often cut out of the state budget. Look at the law suit the DOE had to file in order to get the money the state budgeted for NYC public schools. [ Reply | More ]

The city is screwing itself but not asking condo developers to pay for additional schools/MTA. All these new buildings mean new people (and families)-- Why hasn't Bloomberg pushed for them to shoulder some of the tax burden...After all, new condos often have abated taxes for up to 10 years! That means a free ride for condo owners who send their kids to public schools. [ Reply | More ]

but bloomberg got the 234 annex built and the foundling hospital bought, so he actually has pushed for them to shoulder some of the burden. [ Reply | More ]

we have a weak mayor, and that is really the problem. he is on board with denying nyc dcs of a decent education if it enhances his position vis a vis his cronies in power. it is sickening [ Reply | More ]

see above. he has also helped middle-class new yorkers with breaks to landlords, such as helping tenants to convert the mitchell-lama complex in the village to condos. i'm not sure why you think he's such a d&ck. [ Reply | More ]
