does anyone else think this way: im scared to a date new people and i have a 1 year old db girl, that they would sexual abuse my child if im not looking ? this is a serious fear of mine for not wanting to date :( [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

molested yes and have seen alot in my environment (not in my own life) to depict stepfathers tend to do this to children. god and watching daytime talkshows dont help either seriously [ Reply | More

i was molested. i went to a lot of therapy. major, major therapy. i assume you think it's stepdads who don't have children before marrying. maybe you could skirt around the issue by only considering single dads. [ Reply | More

np - whether it's irrational is totally irrelevant. emotions aren't always logical. talk therapy can take a long time with major issues like abuse. i think she needs a way to deal with the situation comfortably while working on talk therapy. she needs a bandaid. i thought some of the suggestions above were good, re meeting through friends. I think this way too. It's not a terrible anxiety, but it's there. I also worry I'll end up dating some nutjob and something will happen to me and I won't be there for ds. I never worried about this kind of stuff before I became a parent [ Reply | More
