Depends on the neighborhood. Last year I paid 200k for a house originally listed at 270k two years ago. Huge lot (close to an acre), huge house, nice neighborhood but nobody's clamoring to live here because of the high taxes in this area. In a hotter neighborhood in Rochester, where I live, I would have paid over list instead of under. So really I think it depends on whether or not the owner is going to get better offers from other people. If not, aim low. I'd say go as low as $140k in this market, especially if you know the owners want to get rid of the property quick. [ Reply | More ]
